Shazarahel
Shazarahel is an Italo-Israeli artist, writer and speaker.
Shazarahel is the author of the book Jewish DNA, Genetics and Kabbalah (already in its fourth edition), and Food beyond matter; the Kabbalistic secrets of the Jewish Passover meal. She has also created a photographic collection in several volumes entitled Israel in detail…
Together with a team of doctors, scientists and researchers, she has founded the magazine Madaat, a space open to any type of leading-edge scientific study and alternative medicine. A virtual place for dialog between scientific and humanistic disciplines, between modern science and Torah.
Currently she is working on a major project: the construction of Kabbaland, an eco-village and center for comparative studies between science and the Torah, near Jerusalem.
In 2006 Shazarahel was commissioned by The Temple Institute in Jerusalem to write the script for a fiction movie on the reconstruction of the Third Temple. From 2006 till 2007 she worked on developing the script and the storyboard of the movie Arba Banim, The End of Israel, which artistically describes the invisible tie connecting the lives of four different Jewish couples (i.e. a Chassidic couple, a Zionist couple, a Traditionalist couple and a Secular one) who seem not to know each other until, at the end of a providential path, they all find themselves involved in the utopian endeavour of rebuilding the Gate of the Third Temple, in the period of 40 days preceding the risk of an atomic attack on Israel.
In 2008, she directed a short film titled Hakam veTam (“The wise and the simpleton”, based on a tale by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov) working with a group of students from the yeshiva, who were all teenagers with social and psychological issues.
On the 22nd of June 2010 she was granted by the State of Israel two awards (as well as economic funds) as “Outstanding Artist”.
On the 23rd of October 2011 she was awarded the First Prize at the “Concorso Letterario in memoria di Lorenzo Cresti” (The “Lorenzo Cresti” Literary Contest) for the poem Riavvolgere il Nastro…
On the 15rd of February 2015 she received the CCCI recognition of Dama Ambassador of Peace.
Shazarahel is also a conference organizer. She holds seminars in Italy, France and Israel.
Kabbalart
Kabbalart uses the visual arts as an intuitive and immediate access road to the esoteric secrets of Jewish mysticism hidden in the sacred text, through the letters, the analogy of their forms, and the application of esoteric alpha-numeric techniques to the Hebrew words that the letters compose and recompose.
While she often addresses issues dear to Judaism, Shazarahel also proposes a universal reflection on the new challenges of the modern era, centered on the dialog between science and the wisdom of the ancient Teachers. In this sense, even at a technical level, Shazarahel presents herself as a connecting bridge between different eras, between the old and the new, between the past and the future: the nostalgia for a glorious painterly past that echoes in her canvases ( evoking the paintings of the Great Masters like the Pre-Raphaelites, Caravaggio, Dali, Esher) merges with the utopia of the modern world and the world of the future.
